Pairing Your Devices

Pairing establishes a trusted relationship between your IDE and mobile device, enabling secure communication through our cloud infrastructure. This one-time setup takes less than 2 minutes.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have:

How Pairing Works

JetWings uses a secure 6-digit code system for pairing:

  1. Your IDE generates a unique 6-character code (e.g., ABC-DEF)
  2. You enter the code on your mobile device within 5 minutes
  3. Backend validates the code and establishes the pairing
  4. Pairing persists until expiration or manual unpair
Anonymous and Secure

No account creation required. Your IDE and mobile device are identified by randomly generated unique identifiers. The pairing code is single-use and expires after 5 minutes.

Pairing Step-by-Step

Generate Code

Start the pairing process in your IDE:

  • Open the JetWings tool window (right sidebar)
  • Click the Pair button
  • Note the unique 6-digit code displayed

Enter Code

Complete pairing on your device:

  • Open the JetWings mobile app
  • Tap Pair (or Add IDE)
  • Enter the 6-digit code from your IDE

Enable Connection

Activate the communication channel:

  • Pairing is just the handshake.
  • Switch the "Open Connection" toggle in the IDE to ON
  • Now your mobile device can receive notifications!
Pairing vs Connection
  • Pairing is a one-time setup that persists (IDEs remember your phone).
  • Connection is what you toggle daily to allow/block remote access.
Pairing Expiration Options

Choose an appropriate expiration duration:

  • 30 days: For temporary setups
  • 90 days: For personal devices (Recommended)
  • 1 year: For stable environments
  • Never: For permanent setups (requires confirmation)

When the pairing expires, you will just need to pair again.

Managing Existing Pairings

View Pairing Information

To see current pairing status:

  1. Open JetWings tool window (right sidebar).
  2. View pairing status: "Paired with [Device Name]".
  3. See expiration date (if applicable).

Unpair Devices

To unpair and remove the connection:

  1. Open JetWings tool window (right sidebar).
  2. Click the Unpair button.
  3. Confirm the action.
Data Loss

Message history will be cleared. You'll need to pair again to reconnect.

Next Steps

Now that your devices are paired:

  1. Configure IDE Settings to customize auto-connect behavior
  2. Configure Mobile Settings to set up notifications
  3. Try remote actions from your mobile device
