# JirAI: Install and activate

Install JirAI from JetBrains Marketplace, restart the IDE and sign in to your Jira Cloud site.

## Requirements

* The current version requires a JetBrains IDE 2026.3 (build 263) or later.

* A Jira Cloud site, for example `https://demo-org.atlassian.net`. Jira Server and Jira Data Center are not supported.

* An Atlassian account with access to the site, and an API token for that account.

## Install JirAI

In the IDE:

Procedure: Install JirAI from the IDE

1. Open the Settings dialog: `Ctrl+Alt+S` (macOS: `⌘ ,`).

2. Select Plugins.

3. Open the Marketplace tab.

4. Search for JirAI.

5. Click Install.

6. Restart the IDE when prompted.

From the Marketplace website:

Procedure: Install JirAI from the website

1. Open the [JirAI page on JetBrains Marketplace](https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/33954-jirai).

2. Click Install to… and choose the running IDE.

3. In the IDE, confirm the installation.

4. Restart the IDE when prompted.

From disk:

Procedure: Install JirAI from a ZIP archive

1. Download the plugin ZIP archive from the [JirAI versions page](https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/33954-jirai/versions).

2. In `Settings | Plugins`, click the gear icon.

3. Choose Install Plugin from Disk….

4. Select the ZIP archive.

5. Restart the IDE when prompted.

> **Note:**
> Under Remote Development, the IDE synchronizes only plugins that come from JetBrains Marketplace or a custom repository.
>
>
>
> A plugin installed from disk must be installed on the host and on the client separately.

## Licensing and free trial

JirAI is a paid plugin with a 7-day free trial.

Start the trial or activate a license in `Help | Register`.

Without a trial or a license, the IDE disables the plugin.
