AZD settings are under `Settings | Version Control | AZD`. The AZD page holds the accounts; the sub-pages hold the other options. Settings apply to all projects, except Additional pipeline YAML locations and the muted pipelines list, which belong to the current project.

## Accounts

Path: `Settings | Version Control | AZD`

![AZD accounts page with an account and Clone git repositories using ssh selected](images/azd_settings_accounts.png)

Accounts list
: Your Azure DevOps accounts. Click + to add one with Sign in with Personal Access Token, Sign in with Microsoft or Sign in with Azure CLI, and − to remove one. See [Connect to Azure DevOps](azd-installation.html#connect).
:
:
:
: For the permissions requested by Microsoft sign-in, see [Sign in with Microsoft](azd-installation.html#azd-oauth-login).

Clone git repositories using ssh
: Clones over SSH. When cleared, AZD clones over HTTPS. Default: on. See [Choose SSH or HTTPS](azd-manage-projects-hosted-on-azure-devops.html#clone-protocol).

## Preferences

Path: `Settings | Version Control | AZD | Preferences`. For AI providers and prompts, see [AI Settings](#ai-settings).

![AZD Preferences settings page with the pull request, auto-refresh, link and proxy options](images/azd_settings_preferences.png)

Automatically mark opened files as viewed
: Marks a pull request file as viewed when you open its diff. Default: off.

Auto-fill description from PR templates
: Fills the description of a new pull request from the repository's pull request template. Default: off.

Auto-refresh pipelines, Interval in seconds
: Refreshes the pipeline run list and open runs at the set interval (5–1800 seconds). Default: off, 60 seconds.

Auto-refresh pull requests, Interval in seconds
: Refreshes the pull request list and open pull requests at the set interval (5–1800 seconds). Default: off, 60 seconds.

Open AZD links in tool window
: Opens links between AZD views inside the AZD tool windows instead of the browser: pipeline links in pull requests, pull request links in pipeline runs and work items, and runs opened from agent pools. Default: on.

Open commit links from the timeline in the IDE
: Opens a commit link in the pull request timeline in the pull request details, with the commit selected, instead of on Azure DevOps. Default: on.

Respect proxy configuration
: Uses the proxy configured in the IDE for AZD connections. Default: off.

Accept untrusted SSL certificates
: Skips certificate validation for AZD connections only, for networks with a TLS-inspecting proxy. Other IDE connections are not affected. Default: off.

Use API-based diff generation (experimental)
: Builds pull request diffs from the Azure DevOps API instead of Git. Faster, but binary files may not show correctly. Default: off.

Azure CLI (az) path (optional)
: The `az` executable for Azure CLI sign-in. Leave empty to detect it automatically, or click Detect.

Filter subject type
: Identity types for user searches. In the current version this field has no effect; AZD always searches `msa, aad, win, imp, vss`.

Share anonymous usage statistics
: Sends an anonymous event when a Microsoft sign-in starts, succeeds or fails. Default: on. See [Privacy and usage statistics](azd-reference-and-support.html#privacy).

## AI Settings

Path: `Settings | Version Control | AZD | AI Settings`. AI features work without setup: the built-in AZD provider is configured and set as the default.

Enable AI assistance
: Turns all AZD AI features on or off. Default: on. See [AZD: AI assistant](azd-ai.html).

Enable MCP Tools
: Lets AI chat create work items, manage pull requests and trigger pipelines. Default: off. See [MCP tools](ai-pull-request-review.html#mcp-tools).

Show illustrations in AI review tour
: Shows a cover image on the first card of the AI review tour. Default: off. See [AI review tour](ai-pull-request-review.html#ai-auto-review).

AI Providers
: The providers and models AZD can use. See [AI providers](azd-ai.html#ai-providers).

Configure Prompts
: The prompts for titles, descriptions, commit messages and reviews, and whether each feature is enabled. See [Configure prompts](azd-ai.html#configure-prompts).

For how the default provider handles your data, see [AI and privacy](azd-ai.html#ai-privacy).

## UI Customization

Path: `Settings | Version Control | AZD | UI Customization`

![AZD UI Customization settings page with Adopt Azure DevOps UI style and the timeline order option](images/azd_settings_ui.png)

Adopt Azure DevOps UI style
: Makes the pull request details look more like the Azure DevOps web UI, with a Submit Review button for votes. Default: off.

Show events in the order ascending by date
: Shows the oldest timeline events first. Clear it to show the newest first. Default: on.

## Boards and Work Items

Path: `Settings | Version Control | AZD | Boards and Work Items`

![AZD Boards and Work Items settings page with the Commit Message Template group](images/azd_settings_boards.png)

The first options control which work items you can pick when you link work items to a pull request or a commit.

Show Work items from all Projects
: Lists work items from every project in the organization or collection, not only the project of the repository. Default: off.

Limit work items to recent history
: Lists only work items changed within the set number of days (0–60). Default: on, 60 days.

Enable work item commit message action
: Adds Select Work Item... to the AZD commit message button. Default: on. See [Add work items to a commit message](azd-boards.html#work-item-commit-template).

Template
: The commit message template. Placeholders: `{id}`, `{title}`, `{type}`, `{state}`. To insert one at the caret, click + in the field. Default: `{id} - {title}`.

Max work items per commit
: How many work items you can select for one commit message (1–10). Default: 5.

Advanced, Custom Work Item Query
: The WHERE clause of the query that lists work items for linking to pull requests and commits. By default it hides work items in the Done, Closed and Removed states. The Select Work Item for Commit Message dialog also applies its own state filter; see [Add work items to a commit message](azd-boards.html#work-item-commit-template). Select Use custom WHERE clause to edit it; the text must start with `WHERE`.

## Pipeline Settings

Path: `Settings | Version Control | AZD | Pipeline Settings`

![AZD Pipeline Settings page with one muted pipeline in Approval Notifications](images/azd_settings_pipelines.png)

Inject Azure DevOps YAML pipeline schema
: Turns on completion and validation in pipeline files through the Azure Pipelines language server. Default: on. See [AZD: Edit Azure Pipelines YAML](azd-pipeline-yaml.html).

Additional pipeline YAML locations
: More folders or glob patterns, relative to the project root and separated by semicolons, whose YAML files count as pipeline files. Project setting. See [Which files are pipeline files](azd-pipeline-yaml.html#pipeline-files).

Approval Notifications
: Pipelines whose approvals do not raise a notification. Changes apply immediately. Project setting. See [Mute approval notifications](azd-pipeline-approvals.html#mute-approvals).

Node.js Configuration
: The Node.js executable for the language server, and Validate Node.js. Leave the path empty to detect Node.js automatically.

## Pull request filters

Custom quick filters for the pull request list are managed in the AZD Pull Requests tool window, not in Settings. See [Custom quick filters](work-with-azure-devops-pull-requests.html#custom-quick-filters).

## Notifications

AZD notification groups are listed in `Settings | Appearance & Behavior | Notifications`: AZD notifications, Azure DevOps AI, Azure DevOps AI Suggestions, AZD agents and AZD Pipeline Approvals.

## Registry keys

A few advanced options have no settings page. To change them, press `Ctrl+Shift+A` (macOS: `⌘ ⇧ A`), find Registry..., and search for the key.

azd.pipeline.log.page.lines
: Lines per page in the stage log viewer. Default: 3000.

azd.pipeline.queue.threshold.seconds
: Queue waits shorter than this many seconds are not shown. Default: 5.

azd.pipeline.log.ai.max.tokens
: Maximum input tokens sent for AI log analysis. Default: -1 (use the provider's limit).
