## Vote

Procedure: Vote on a pull request

1. In the pull request details, click Pull Request Actions (⋮) and point to Approve.

2. Select Approve, Approve With Suggestions, Wait For Author or Reject. To withdraw your vote, select Reset Feedback.

If you prefer the layout of the Azure DevOps web page, select Adopt Azure DevOps UI style in `Settings | Version Control | AZD | UI Customization`. The details then show a Submit Review button with the vote options, next to Complete….

## Manage reviewers

Procedure: Request a review

1. In the pull request details, click Request Review…. It is also in the Pull Request Actions menu.

2. Search for people or groups and select them. The search also finds users who have access through Microsoft Entra ID groups.

If you are not a reviewer, click Set Myself as Reviewer.

To remove a reviewer or change whether their vote is required, open the menu of their row in the status area and select Remove … from reviewers, Make '…' Optional or Make '…' Required.

## Reviewer status

Each reviewer has a row in the status area of the pull request details. The avatar outline and icon show the vote, and the text says it:

… approved review
: The reviewer approved.

… approved with suggestions
: The reviewer approved and left suggestions.

… is waiting for updates
: The reviewer voted Wait For Author.

… rejected the changes
: The reviewer rejected the pull request.

… declined to review
: The reviewer declined the review request.

Waiting for review from …
: The reviewer has not voted yet.

## Publish a draft or mark as draft

A draft pull request shows Publish Pull Request at the bottom of the details. Click it to make the pull request active and notify the reviewers. To turn an active pull request back into a draft, select Mark as Draft in the Pull Request Actions menu.

## Complete a pull request

When all required policies pass, the main button at the bottom of the details of an approved pull request is Complete…; it is also in the Pull Request Actions menu. While required policies are pending, the button is Set Auto Complete…; see [Set auto-complete](#auto-complete).

Procedure: Complete a pull request

1. Click Complete… or select it in the Pull Request Actions menu.

2. In the dialog, select a Merge method. AZD preselects the method that you used last. The list contains only the methods that the target branch allows:

* Merge (no fast-forward) keeps the history exactly as it happened.

* Squash commit condenses the source commits into one new commit.

* Rebase and fast-forward replays the source commits onto the target without a merge commit.

* Semi-linear merge replays the source commits and then creates a merge commit.

3. Select the options you need: Complete associated work items after merging, Delete … after merging for the source branch, and Customize merge commit message to edit the Merge commit message. If you clear Customize merge commit message, the message is `Merged PR N: title`, followed by the description. AZD remembers these choices.

4. Click the confirmation button. Its label matches the merge method, for example Squash commit.

> **Note:**
> When you use Complete… or Set Auto Complete…, AZD deletes the source branch even if Delete … after merging is cleared. To keep the branch, use a merge shortcut instead; see [Merge shortcuts](#merge-shortcuts).

### Merge shortcuts

For an approved pull request, the arrow on Complete… offers Merge…, Squash and Merge…, Rebase and Rebase with a merge commit. The Merge Review… submenu of Pull Request Actions offers the same items, but only the author sees Rebase with a merge commit there. Each opens the completion dialog with only that method.

### Set auto-complete

While required policies are still pending, Complete… changes to Set Auto Complete….

Procedure: Set auto-complete

1. Click Set Auto Complete….

2. In the Enable automatic completion dialog, choose the merge method and options.

3. Click Set auto-complete.

Azure DevOps completes the pull request as soon as all required policies pass. To stop it, click Cancel Set Auto Complete….

## Requeue expired builds

When a build validation policy has expired, the Pull Request Actions menu shows Requeue Expired CI. Point to it and select the build to queue again. You can also re-trigger an expired build from the Details… link of the build checks; see [Check the status and branch policies](pull-request-details.html#azd_pull_request_status).

## Abandon or reactivate

To abandon a pull request, select Close Pull Request in the Pull Request Actions menu. An abandoned pull request shows Reopen Pull Request; click it to make the pull request active again.
