AZD adds Azure DevOps to the IDE clone dialog and to the menus that open files and commits in the browser.

## Clone a repository

Clone any [Azure Repos](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/devops/repos/get-started/what-is-repos) Git repository your account can access, and open it as a project.

AZD clones over SSH by default, which needs an SSH key registered in Azure DevOps. To clone over HTTPS instead, see [Choose SSH or HTTPS](#clone-protocol).

Procedure: Clone an Azure DevOps repository

1. Select `Git | Clone…`, or click Clone Repository on the Welcome screen.

2. In the Clone Repository dialog, select Azure DevOps on the left.

3. If you are not signed in, the dialog shows Log In to AZD. Click Sign in with Microsoft or Sign in with Azure CLI, or click Use token… to enter a personal access token.

For details about each method, see [Connect to Azure DevOps](azd-installation.html#connect).

4. Select a repository from the list of all repositories your accounts can access.

To filter the list, type in the search field above it. To clone a repository that is not listed, paste its URL in the search field. To add an account, click the account icon next to the search field and select Log In with Token…, which opens the sign-in options.

5. In Clone into, enter the folder for the local repository.

6. Optional: select Shallow clone with a history truncated to and enter the number of commits.

7. Click Clone, and confirm that you want to open the cloned sources as a project.

## Choose SSH or HTTPS

AZD clones over SSH by default. To clone over HTTPS, clear Clone git repositories using ssh in `Settings | Version Control | AZD`. Over HTTPS, Git uses the token of an AZD account that matches the remote: the default account if it matches, otherwise the only matching account. To set the default account, see [Manage accounts](azd-installation.html#azd-manage-accounts).

> **Note:**
> With the credential helper enabled, Git asks the credential helper for credentials instead of using your AZD accounts, and the Clone Repository dialog shows a warning.

## Open a file on Azure DevOps

Open the Azure DevOps web view of a file at the commit you have checked out. AZD uses the current revision of the file, so the web view matches your local copy.

Procedure: Open the current file on Azure DevOps

1. Right-click a file in the editor, on an editor tab or in the Project tool window.

2. Select `Open In | Azure Devops`.

The file opens in your default browser. If the browser is not signed in to Azure DevOps, sign in there.

Procedure: Open a commit from the annotations

1. In the editor, right-click the gutter and select Annotate with Git Blame.

2. Right-click an annotation and select Open on AzureDevops.

## Copy a link to Azure DevOps

Procedure: Copy the Azure DevOps URL of a file

1. Right-click a file in the editor or in the Project tool window, and select Copy Path/Reference….

2. Select AZD Repository URL.
